FAQ

The questions we actually get asked.

Do we still need a cookie banner?

Hikr does not set cookies or write to device storage, which removes the technical basis most banners exist for. Whether you can drop yours depends on everything else running on your site and on your regulator. We will give your DPO the full technical description.

How do you count unique visitors without an identifier?

We derive a rotating, salted hash from request-level signals that is never stored raw and expires daily. It cannot be reversed and cannot be used to follow someone across sites or across days.

How accurate is it compared to cookie-based analytics?

You lose cross-session stitching. You gain the visitors who would have declined consent. For most sites the second effect is larger, but we would rather you run both for a fortnight and see your own numbers.

How does lead attribution work without an identifier?

A short-lived click id is minted at the redirect hop and rides the URL to the form. The lead arrives pre-attributed to its campaign; Hikr never holds a join key to a person. Read the lead attribution page for the full mechanism.

Where is data processed?

Our default endpoint runs in Europe. If your setup needs a different region, talk to us.

Does it work with a tag manager?

Yes, though the direct tag is one fewer moving part. Either way it should sit outside your consent-gated container.
